Desperate displays.
Dec. 29th, 2022 09:42 pmAfter months of not doing anything, yesterday I sent off another novel query. It's at an inopportune time of the calendar year to get a speedy rejection, and of the ongoing pandemic for any publishing house to pick up a book that's difficult to slot into an easily marketed genre. It still felt good to send it out and reminded me it's a thing that's worth doing.
I chatted with a friend about it, and I figure that maybe, eventually, if I get frustrated enough I can put it up on AO3 just to have it out there. She pointed out that there's quite a few people that have "putting it out on the internet" as the beginning of their writing careers, which I can't argue with. It might help me feel like I can move on from it, or it might be that beginning. In any case, I'm going to wait a little while longer, because I want to at least receive definitive silence from a few more people before trying a different tactic.
