Of all the benefits of virtual and hybrid fandom conventions, the ability to register on impulse the nigh before is high on the light. Higher is being able to do things like prep lunch for the week during a lull in the afternoon and sleep in my own bed at night. There's no genuine substitution for an in-person con - new faces, old voices, hugs as asked for and offered all around - and there's enough of the con experience in the small glimmering spaces and little screen boxes to make it worth the time and money.

I made people laugh, I made people wince, I made people curious. I nabbed the first season of Fringe. I enjoyed letting some anger out and getting to talk about catharsis, tropes that makes my brain happy, and an idea that hasn't left me alone since about 2007. Whether or not anything will come of that idea, I still can't say, but it felt good to talk about it.
