In retrospect, it was inevitable.
Mar. 19th, 2016 08:08 pmYes, it's taken me a long time to come around to want to consider watching Buffy. I put part of the blame on my inability to take the name seriously - and I know, yes, I know that's the goddamn point but ask me about my trouble with social cues and insincere jokes sometime - and part of it on people relentlessly quoting that goddamn rabbit lyric at me after I got a pair of them as pets and part of it on enjoying bringing a room to silence by saying I'd never seen the show.
And.
I remember watching a vid of the show at a convention once - I looked it up, and it was in the bonus vid show for BASCon 2006 - where a lot of it was lost on me for having never seen any of the source material but it had one moment of a character pacing within a holding cell of some kind, and I remembered that moment fairly well because it made me think, Okay, that. That there, that I like.
Also.
Recently, I'd looked up one character after seeing some Tumblr reblogs of the guy's face and hearing some charming anecdotes about the actor interacting with a friend's grandmother, and reading a very good long fic involving the character and this one trope involved in a fic I'm currently working on, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was the same person from the vid. Then I did a tiny bit of reading on him, and - You're saying he did what? To whom? And that means he - oh, so then he - and then - oh goodness gracious me, that is what I like, isn't it.
So everyone who isn't surprised to hear that even before watching a second of the show itself Spike is already dancing a rumba all over my bulletproof character kink list, go ahead and raise your hand.
