Three Metro notes.

1. Paying based on distance traveled rather than a flat fee per ride doesn’t encourage the perception of public transit as a social equalizer.

2. It’s still public transit.

3. A couple maps to orient on cardinal directions wouldn’t go amiss, though.

I wouldn't want to pay the maximum fare to travel one or two stops, either.

If you're looking for area maps when leaving the DC metro, they're usually by the farecard machines.
