Still hear you saying.
Sep. 30th, 2020 09:18 pmToday I resigned my position as census enumerator. I've never had the opportunity to do that before, which made it a nice change of pace. There were a couple of times I wanted to put in my two weeks' notice, but one time I was let go before I could submit it, and the other time I was told there were only a few weeks' left to my job anyway. So those didn't come to pass. Today, though, went beyond just walking out the door and leaving the job behind.
The reasoning behind the resignation is that it makes paperwork easier. I can live with that.
Honestly, it was really easy and painless. My supervisor lives about six blocks away, so I walked to her building and we did the paperwork in the lobby: turning in all my equipment, going over the last bits of protocol, signing the last timesheet and getting me an hour's pay for about twenty minutes of tasks. I was able to get in one last lobby, and I need to sort through the pictures now that it's really over. I gave her a jar of fancy jam as thanks for her support and patience. We talked a bit, and parted on good terms.
Also, I've now had three people, all independently of each other, tell me I have a good phone voice. The word my supervisor used was "authoritative." A flattering note to end on.
