Tell us where you go to dig up canon facts for your fandom, or where you get all the juicy details about your favorite ship. Where do you like to hang out and squee like a squeeing thing? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
There's things like TV Tropes and Dreamwidth itself, but I want to talk about something I think needs more attention: The New York City Fan Brunch. It's a very low-key affair, a monthly gathering of local fans to enjoy each other's company and squee in the same physical location, though it's now usually a lunchtime thing. "Brunch" is an outdated term that can't be dropped because of brand recognition.
I mention it not because I think more people should attend, but because it's an idea that needs to spread. I know I've lived in other cities and felt lonely for fandom when I knew I couldn't be the only person within a two-mile radius who knew about fic and vids; it was getting in touch with them that was the issue. Conventions are wonderful, but they're major events you plan months in advance, not little gatherings that don't need an equal amount of time to recover from. Between Dreamwidth, Twitter, Tumblr, and good old-fashioned e-mail, social networking with an emphasis on the social is easier than ever. So I'd like to hear about more Fan Brunches, whether they're small enough to take up a single little booth by the window or big sprawling affairs that take over half the restaurant, gatherings in someone's house or out in a park somewhere.
This is fandom. We find each other. And I think we should do that as early and often as possible.
