Post-snow baking.
Feb. 13th, 2024 09:15 pmIt might be the snow, it might be the bourbon I had last night before going to bed, it might be nothing at all, but today my mood was a lot lighter than it was yesterday. I accomplished the feat of making a gingerbread cake with poached pears and caramel sauce, and I've got a little caramel left over, waiting in the fridge. I also kept reducing the poaching liquid for the pears - which I put ginger and cardamon pods into, of course I did - and now there's a nice syrup, too.
There were a handful of things I'd wanted to get done today, and even knowing that and knowing how little I want to do them tomorrow, I really don't feel bad about it. I honestly don't know how this is working out.
