Wow.

I went back to the moving gig today, for significantly more time and a fair amount more money. I also brought more stuff with me, which I'd hoped to get as a moving bonus - cleaning supplies, teabags, a measuring cup, a giant portable radio, beach towels, a shower curtain. You know, the usual.

The oddest part of the day was the woman who hired me momentarily going frothy and insisting I go out and spend time with people when I said I didn't get out much. It wasn't aggressive, just baffling. As she's a psychologist by trade and said that three pillars of health are mental, physical, and social, I can see why she was concerned. Though I still can't get why it made her so passionate.

However, that was balanced by the best part of the day. She'd hired some movers, who kept with the tradition of coming at the most inconvenient time and arrived at the very beginning of the anticipated window, but were rewarded for that by being roped into helping pack up the place. They noticed my hairsticks, so I did my party trick of undoing my bun for them, to everyone's delight. I ran into them a little bit later when they were waiting for the freight elevator, saying goodbye and thank you - and one of them said, "Have a nice day, beautiful."
