In the Before Times, I loved going to a local library book sale that happened twice a month. A nearby branch devoted most of its basement space to the enterprise with a fairly solid selection across the board, from children's novels to erotica. I'd usually pick up CDs and DVD box sets, and had a great time picking up gifts for people.
Another hobby of mine in the Before Times was finding stuff for the swap table at fandom conventions - items I didn't have any use for with a fannish bent, usually pieces of media. There was a brief period where the book sale and the swap table overlapped, where I'd pick up stuff I knew would go over well - the library got a few dollars, someone else went home with something fun, I facilitated the experience, everyone came out a winner.
The thing is, I've got a bunch of DVD box sets and suchlike I'd wanted to bring to in-person swap tables, but there's not going to be such a table in my future for a good long while.
And the book sales started up again a little while ago.
It's always hard to give up on long-held plans. Saying these box sets I haven't watched in a while that I'd hoped to give to fans will be heading to the book sale is difficult, but it's something I need to understand is what's going to be happening. Better to knowingly send them onto a new home than hold onto them for a day that might or might not be coming.
