Tell you how good it was.
Nov. 17th, 2022 09:09 pmOut on my bike ride today - mid-November, air that's chilly but not cold which rests on your skin without biting down, a sharp blue sky and the trees either leafless or blazing - I saw two people. Both in coats. I couldn't get a good look at either of them as I went past, just that one of them had short black hair and one had long red hair. From their profiles and posture, they looked to be teenagers. A boy and a girl. Sitting together on the raised stone fence along the promenade above the sports field, trees flanking them alongside and below. He was resting against the fence, facing towards the park; she was sitting on the fence, facing the Hudson and resting against him. They were holding each other, arms around each other, as close as you can get in heavy coats.
I reached the terminus of my park route and on my way back, they were sitting together on a bench, both facing the river and leaning against one another and again, still, with their arms around each other.
Sometimes life in New York City is more like the movies than I can ever imagine.
Also of note was seeing a woman on a utility tricycle, built to adult scale, and after telling her how much I liked it, I joked they're not just for children anymore. But not as much of note as seeing something right out of the movies.
