May. 31st, 2022 10:05 pmAt the back of the bottom shelf of my fridge, I found a small jar of leftover watermelon from the last batch of this drink I made almost a year ago. It'd been waiting there. Lurking. I opened the jar and gave it a sniff. Nothing seemed strange. I took another sniff. Still fine.
I took a bite.
Summer bursting on my tongue.
I guess I managed to sweet pickle it without realizing, and keeping it secure and cold helped keep it fresh, too. But I don't want to go through this again.
As the best way to do that is to eat the watermelon right away, I think I can manage that this time around.
