A minor triumph.
Nov. 2nd, 2020 08:10 pmWinter's hit New York City. The temperatures are dropping slowly and surely, the winds are picking up, and I'm wearing socks indoors. We're getting to the dark, cold days, and it's a comfort to know it's simply axial tilt behind that. But it has its upsides, too.
Like how on my bike ride today, I stopped at a light, and a woman pulled up near me, also on a bike, but without anything covering her face. I looked at her and said, in a patient and concerned tone, "Aren't you cold without a mask?"
She had one, she just wasn't wearing it. Not until I'd reminded her to put it over her face.
So now I'm grateful for the wind, at least this year: a socially acceptable and situationally appropriate reason to ask people to put their stupid masks back on.
