Make the most of the night.
May. 1st, 2020 08:42 pmI woke up, and stayed awake, at five this morning. Around six thirty I realized this gave me time to watch the Parks and Recreation special before going to market, so I'm not nearly as upset about it as I'd be otherwise.
It rained yesterday, last night, and this morning, so on my daily get-out-of-the-apartment bike ride through the park, I paid particular attention to the puddles. Because it wasn't very windy, their surfaces were perfectly still, and because it was still fairly cloudy, they were perfectly reflective - the best mirrors I've seen in a long while. It's an effect I like because when puddles get like that, it's a chance to see up from underneath without having to lie down or crane my neck. I can simply lean over, or look down as I bike past, and I get a good view of the way the branches hang heavy with old flowers or new leaves, and see into the depth and the structure of the tree as it grows in three dimensions. It's very nice.
Also nice, as many before me have found, is tequila with pineapple juice and a splash of lime. Just delightful.
