Some small good things.

Two stories above me, someone's playing rock and roll music loud enough I can hear it tumbling down, and not so loud I can tell who's singing. Just that it's good solid music. Tonight, that's enough for me.

Since my plans have been cancelled through June, if not next November, I took some of the money that'd usually go to a monthly unlimited Metro card and put that towards fancy Californian honey.

At the nearby independent grocery store today, I pet two of their cats - a personal best. The one I'd pet before seemed to recognize me, coming right up to my hands, and even put its paws on my leg and tried kneading me through the denim, which just tickled, and licked my nose, which made me laugh. I'd been out biking in the rain, so maybe it liked the water. Maybe it just wanted to know what I tasted like.

The bike ride was excellent, with few people out and time spent moving fast. Getting back in the saddle's been good for me. I've come to understand my usual speedy walking pace that people have noted even before I moved to New York comes from growing up biking everywhere more than three blocks from my house. My expectations for movement are such I've got to keep going fast.

I was also thinking, much as I have an icon of Luke Skywalker with "הַתִּקְוָה" - hatikvah, "the hope" on it, even though I've already got one of the character, I'd be pleased to use an icon of Buffy with "חֲזַ֤ק חֲזַ֤ק וְנִתְחַזַּק֙" - chazak chazak v’nitzchazek, "be strong be strong and we will be strengthened."
