Warm bodies.

I spent a good few minutes petting a local grocery store cat today. It responded to my mews, and batted at my hair, and let me pet and scratch and enjoy the feeling of its muscle and fur under my hands. I could feel myself relaxing, and even now, hours later, just thinking about it makes me feel better.

Much as I love the birds that are starting to get to know me, I can't hold them close. We're not there yet.
