Fit the changing season.
Dec. 1st, 2019 10:31 pmBeginning the end of the year by putting out a fire is a bit on the nose. It wasn't a big fire, and still.
I was preheating my oven to roast some vegetables, and I guess a bit of grease had dripped onto the bottom from something I'd cooked earlier, because the smoke alarm went off and - there it was. Not a big fire, not a raging conflagration, but rather an unambiguous pyrotechnic event.
I sighed, turned off the heat, and chucked some baking soda at it to smother everything. I waited for everything to cool off as I finished chopping the broccoli, then washed the bottom plate thoroughly, dried it off, and went on with the rest of the evening's cooking.
