First of the month.

Yesterday at morning services, I overheard two young girls talking about the benefits of having a milk party versus a meat party, with each of them arguing one kind of party over the other and arguing it strong. I left before finding out if either of them convinced the other, but the way they were arguing, I don't think they did.

I have to say, it was a lovely moment. This was the world the girls lived in, and that was all there was to it.

Today's services had an ibex horn shofar. Thinner and simpler a sound than most other shofarot I've heard. No less stirring to bring in the new year.
