Oct. 21st, 2018 10:20 pmThis cake is delicious, easy, and something I need to make again with a stronger beer and a better-greased pan. Mostly a stronger beer. I had a can of Stella Artois in my fridge because of a moving out sale, and making it into a cake was probably the best that it could hope for.
Maybe a dark stout, something with a heavy body. Or a honey ale, to play on the cake's flavors. My only modifications were browning the butter and adding some cinnamon. Given that it's a fairly lightly flavored cake as is, it could easily take a whole lot of spices, especially if using a beer suitable for carrying them along.
