After Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl came out - the first and only, thank you - I wanted to join the conversations, so I got an invite code and joined Livejournal. Once I got there, I met a lot of people, many of whom I'm still in touch with across several social networks. After that, I was in the right place to start meeting new people when new fandoms came along - and when old fandoms got a resurgence - and find ways to talk to fans face-to-face - and get emotional and creative support when I needed it - and know where the new networks were springing up - and that the Snowflake Challenge was running -
- so without that movie I wouldn't be here, writing this entry. And without that movie, I wouldn't be participating in fandom as I know it. And without that movie, I wouldn't have met a bunch of my friends.
Given that, it's pretty safe to say that movie changed my life in a way most things I watch and read and listen to simply haven't.
