In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'd like to see more marriage fic. To be precise: I'd like to see more fic of characters getting married. And to be specific: I'd like to see more characters standing in line to pay $45 and become co-signers of various documents in front of witnesses with little to no thought of wedding ceremonies. A wedding might come later, if at all. For the moment, it's the legal recognition that matters.

I want fic about the joys of bureaucracy and legal hassles, because there are few things as sweet and fine as coming out the other side of such hurdles.

Josh Lyman telling Joey Lucas "Things would be so much easier if we were married" and the two of them realizing the news that they are in fact husband and wife would be enough their parents wouldn't care about religious wedding ceremonies so long as there's going to be some sort of event they've been invited to attend. Kareen Koudelka and Mark Vorkosigan waking up an hour early to get it done before the start of business hours and the fact that Mark is smiling the entire day is one of the most unnerving things his employees have ever seen. Chris Traeger and Ann Perkins doing it as quietly and quickly as possible because they know Leslie will hear about it and she will have a binder ready.

An OT3 discussing whether or not there needs to be a legal wedding between two of them for tax and insurance purposes. An OTP that's been waiting for decades to wait in line standing next to an OTP that's just happy to be there. Or a couple figuring that since tax season is approaching, it might as well happen now. Perhaps they just really don't want a long engagement because it'll make life that much easier, even if they're both PhD students or struggling interns - especially since they're both PhD students and struggling interns, it'd provide a genuine and much-needed feeling of stability within their lives.

"You're married? Since when?" "Since Tuesday."

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Julian Bashir's reaction to beets is one of the single most recognizably autistic things I've ever seen in any piece of media, anywhere. As per the tags, FUCK NO THAT TEXTURE IS NOT GOING IN MY MOUTH - I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE MY CO AND BAJORAN JESUS - THIS IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN

There are some foods and textures that elicit that same sort of reaction for me. I've gotten pretty good at being polite about things I encounter outside my own kitchen, but every so often something comes up and surprises me beyond my immediate capability to improvise, and I end up thinking back on this clip from this episode, because I've never seen something so accurately capture the feeling that some things just don't go in your mouth, no matter what the food is or who's offering it.
