Julian Bashir's reaction to beets is one of the single most recognizably autistic things I've ever seen in any piece of media, anywhere. As per the tags, FUCK NO THAT TEXTURE IS NOT GOING IN MY MOUTH - I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE MY CO AND BAJORAN JESUS - THIS IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN
There are some foods and textures that elicit that same sort of reaction for me. I've gotten pretty good at being polite about things I encounter outside my own kitchen, but every so often something comes up and surprises me beyond my immediate capability to improvise, and I end up thinking back on this clip from this episode, because I've never seen something so accurately capture the feeling that some things just don't go in your mouth, no matter what the food is or who's offering it.
