Encounters.
Nov. 25th, 2015 09:46 pmAt this point in the year, shopping for groceries at the greenmarket means paying a fairly high surcharge to not listen to annoying music over a PA system, and paying it gladly. It's true throughout the entire year. But right now, through the end of December, it's even nicer. It's one of those things that's hard to notice because it's tricky to notice an absence. I'll do my best to savor it next time I buy my eggs.
I went to the market today instead of Saturday to keep the weekend as low-key as possible, and the most memorable part of it was standing next to a little boy asking about hard cider and what it was, and then telling him it was alcoholic - like apple wine or apple beer. He asked if he could try beer or wine, and I said he might prefer wine. So he asked his dad if he could have some wine. I told his dad, maybe at the dinner table, and that got him to laugh and ruffle his son's hair, and said maybe in about fifteen years. And then we moved on in opposite directions to get our groceries.
