Oct. 26th, 2014 10:35 pmIt's too late in the season for ratatouille, so I inaugerated my new chef's knife and cutting board with risotto and braised chicken, two of my other standbys.
It's not quite too late in the season for me to force myself to get over this newfound fear of going out in the rain. I wouldn't call it a phobia, more of an apprehension or anxiety over the idea of going out while it's raining. Thinking back on it, this is a new thing that didn't exist before I came to New York - the weather here doesn't follow strict seasonal patterns, just suggestions and guidelines. Getting used to rain happing whenever it wants to is something I haven't managed yet, but I think I need to, because I'm tired of feeling anxious - more anxious than usual - when it rains. And I like rain. I need to learn to like being out in it again.
Speaking of which, does anyone have recommendations for truly waterproof raincoats?
