So glad to say this.

I've got another gig! No, it doesn't pay. But it's still a gig!

More precisely, it's a weekly volunteer posting at the New York Botanical Garden library. I don't know what I'll be doing yet, since the interview today was a general overview of my relevant work experience followed by a tour of the place, and pretty much all of my first day will be spent on paperwork. But given that we talked about reference services, cataloging, book repair and conservation, scanning and digital collections, and general care of circulating materials, I've got a good chance of doing stuff that'll keep me engaged and interested.

It's one day a week, for six to eight hours - it takes me an hour to get there and another to get back, I'd better invest as much time on-site as I can manage. The dress code, such as it is, is machine-washables only, so I've got a chance to start showing off my fabulous t-shirt collection. Also, a bunch of people I'll be working with are fans of Sherlock, other Holmes adaptations, and British character actors, so that should make for some nice lunchtime conversations.

Yeah, all things considered, this is going to be worth the trouble of waking up at seven-thirty.
