Starting on draft number sixteen.
May. 13th, 2012 11:24 pmI settled on an epigraph and a title, so all that's left for me right now is to settle into editing. Then another round to the beta-readers, and then off to post.
I've gone through the first five sections and cut about 400 words. Going by the principle of cutting out ten percent, I need to leave another 4600 behind. It's pretty easy at this point: I taped an index card to the wall by my computer with five points to remember for the editing process, a couple of which are general points about plot and character, but the first one is just "make it snappy." So that's what I've got to focus on to start - making it snappy. Then I can start worrying about the character development.
