Unexpected encounters.

There are fireflies in Central Park. I can't really believe it myself, but they're there - I saw them tonight when I was walking back to the Y about an hour ago, almost as soon as I left Fifth Avenue and stepped past the walls. Fireflies are unreal at the best of times, in the best way, and seeing them in New York City, even in Central Park, made them even less a part of the world I know. I didn't think there would be any in New York City at all, but where else in the city would they be? My brother told me he'd seen them a while ago, but the ones tonight were the first for me since last year.
