I had dinner with Alan Cumming tonight. Boo-yah.

I'd already made plans to meet a friend for dinner and a movie tonight, and after I found a nice vegetarian restaurant near the theater, we went inside, sat down, and made our orders. A few minutes later, Alan Cumming walked in. There wasn't any mistaking him - his eyebrows are pretty distinctive - and after the momentary "OHGOD NIGHTCRAWLER ELI" moment, I took a deep breath and went back to the dumplings I'd ordered and the conversation I'd been having.

Then my main dish came, and the spectacle was enough to make him turn around and face me to ask what it was. I told him it was the ET, and after he found it on the menu, I told him I'd ordered it because the description noted it was served on a "sizzling platter" - which he had to agree with, since it was still giving off massive amounts of steam and making lots of noise - and I said that's always a good thing. Which he seemed to like, and laughed a little bit. And then we both went back to our food.

I don't know if he ordered the same thing; I was having too much fun talking to my friend, and didn't want to stare. I noticed when he shrugged off his jacket to show off his shoulders, but come on, dude's got nice shoulders.

Yesterday had me muttering "it is never a good day" so I wanted to do what I could to make today better. And what do you know, it was.
