adult relationships
Personal interactions where everyone is mature and thoughtful and does their best to cope with the sort of 'adult situations' Hobbes described as "...things like going to work, paying bills and taxes, taking responsibilities... "
multi-purpose turtles
In one of my philosophy classes I had to do a presentation on 'land art.' One of the examples I used was someone's idea to buy a bunch of pet turtles and release them into the wild, and I explained to the class that he was taking a mono-purpose turtle, one to be used as a pet, and using it for something else, which was to make a statement about something. Since he could use them for several things, they were multi-purpose turtles.

As a general rule, I get a lot more done if I don't follow the blow-ups while they're happening and just read the news when it's all over.
victor of aveyron
A feral child from the late 1700s and possibly the best documented. One of the niftier pieces of random history I can think of, his Wikipedia entry is a pretty good starting point on the subject.
feminist revisionist westerns
When I was chatting with a Calvaryman, he told me he couldn't put his hat on my head, or the head of any woman, unless he intended to marry her. I asked if a woman could do the same to a man, should she be in the calvary. He said she would have to be a large woman, and he would have to be a very small man. So I said, "Feminist revisionist westerns...I could get behind that."

brad dourif
One of America's criminally unsung character actors who nearly always dies in the end, and a card-carrying member of the Creepy Motherfucker guild who does sympathetic like nobody's business. Sometimes at the same time.
goth power tools
Years ago I had a conversation with my older brother that somehow segued into me talking about how I don't know very many men on Livejournal. He pointed out I don't tend to go to places where there would be guys, such as communities that list "power tools" in their interests, and that I'm not likely to find someone who has "goth" in their set of interests in a place like that. There would be some crossover, though, in people who like "goth power tools."
It helps if you imagine a chain-saw with black eyeliner.
