Wild card inside.
May. 20th, 2010 05:15 pmOf the twenty songs posted, thirteen were guessed correctly, four more were given attempts, and three were ignored completely. For the attempted songs, people either didn't know the title or the specific artist - in retrospect, I should've skipped over well-known folk songs or popular covers. A part of me is still surprised nobody made any guesses for Death Cab For Cutie or Beth Orton, but I guess that's the breakdown of demographics. Or something like that.
1. O Death, O Death/Won't you spare me over til another year - O Death, Jen Titus
2. I roll the window down/And then begin to breathe in - Passenger Seat, Death Cab For Cutie
3. Beware the bottle thoughts of angry young men/Secret compartments hide all of the skeletons - Nightmares By the Sea, Jeff Buckley
4. When I want you in my arms/When I want you and all your charms - All I Have To Do Is Dream, Roy Orbison
5. I had skin like leather and the diamond-hard look of a cobra/I was born blue and weathered but I burst just like a supernova - It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City, David Bowie
6. If we can call them friends we can call them on red telephones/And they won't pretend that they're too busy or they're not alone - Tables And Chairs, Andrew Bird
7. I've got a smile on my face, I've got four walls around me/The sun in the sky, the water surrounds me - Ordinary Day, Great Big Sea
8. I've watched the stars fall silent from your eyes/All the sights that I have seen - The Great Beyond, R.E.M.
9. Counting all different ideas drifting away/Past and present, they don't matter, now the future's sorted out - 1901, Phoenix
10. I was a stranger in the city/Out of town were the people I knew - A Foggy Day In London Town, David Bowie and Angelo Badalamenti
11. You hit me once, I hit you back/You gave a kick, I gave a slap - Kiss With A Fist, Florence & The Machine
12. A long, long time ago/I can still remember how that music used to make me smile - American Pie, Don McLean
13. You take your white finger/Slide the nail under the top and bottom buttons of my blazer - The Dark Of The Matinee, Franz Ferdinand
14. I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree/And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made - The Lake Isle Of Innisfree, Cherish The Ladies
15. Say say my playmate/Won't you lay hands on me - Wolf Like Me, TV On The Radio
16. Could you whisper in my ear/The things you wanna feel - Slide, The Goo Goo Dolls
17. I was twenty-one years when I wrote this song/I'm twenty-two now but I won't be for long - Leaves That Are Green, Simon and Garfunkel
18. If the rain comes they run and hide their heads/they might as well be dead - Rain, The Beatles
19. This is the definition of my life/Lying in bed in the sunlight - Dry The Rain, The Beta Band
20. Falling from the western selves/To find yourself alone again - She Cries Your Name, Beth Orton
And as a bonus, the whole batch bundled together.
