Salt my wounds, chlorine my eyes.
Aug. 27th, 2024 09:42 pmThere's things I want to say about my family inviting me on an outing today and why I declined and my feelings about the whole set of events, but there's something I need to say first:
It took eleven years, but I got around to finishing my Team Fortress 2 fic cycle.
Ten years to wait, six months to write, and six months to edit. For years, I said it was the one that got away - the story I always wanted to get around to someday, the one I knew I had in me somewhere and hadn't managed to find. No spark, no juice, no mojo. I didn't much need a "muse" since I already knew what I wanted to write. I needed something deeper than that, and all I knew was for ten years, I didn't have it.
About a year ago, I was in between original projects. I'd finished the first draft of a novel that itself took me seventeen years from initial idea to completed document, and in looking around, not sure what to do and not wanting to do nothing, I looked back and realized I did, in fat, have something to do.
So I did it.
