Media intake.
Jan. 26th, 2024 09:54 pmIt usually takes me more than two days to start compulsively checking USPS tracking labels, but this time I'm feeling more impatient than usual. Rentals from Scarecrow Video aren't just items coming to me in their own time; they need to get returned. I don't need a particularly long time with them when they get here - I mostly want them to arrive quickly so I don't have to worry about late fees.
This is my third time renting with them, and it's been a genuine delight so far. The last time I did a batch, I put in a Blu-Ray by mistake, but because the place is staffed by people who could notice that everything else was a DVD and that there was an extra slot in the rental envelope, they gave me a DVD of the same movie just in case. (They count by disc, not just by movie, so a two-disc movie counted as one physical rental slot.) It's the kind of thing that makes me want to sigh dramatically, or at least make a blog post about it.
It also makes me want to buy a USB powered Blu-Ray player, because that's where all the movie extras live these days, and given that there's easily accessible programs to rip those discs, there's more sense in buying the hardware and renting and ripping the media than buying both the hardware and the media.
