Flat circles of all kinds.
Oct. 18th, 2023 08:18 pmMy last computer was a laptop that came without an optical drive, something that used to be taken for granted and now is a largely optional feature.
Yesterday at my current gig, I was cleaning out a closet and came across a removable CD drive, the kind that used to be swapped out for a floppy drive because there was only so much space on the chassis of the computer itself.
It felt strange to hold something that was nearly an artifact, knowing that we'd reached a majestic level of capability only to voluntarily regress to what we'd once had that wasn't all that many years gone but still feels like a very long time ago.
