Hum their song.
Sep. 15th, 2023 03:41 pmI woke up this morning thinking it was a little dimmer out the windows than yesterday, the light a littler softer. When I left the building, it was to a breeze that was colder than any I've felt so far. There were pumpkins in the market last Friday, and there's no arguing with pumpkins, but today I consciously thought that it was now fall, with summer gone. Everything left of it's going to fade faster than I'll be able to grasp as the seasons roll on. And on some level, I'm grateful to be able to be aware of it - to know this was the day of the changing seasons.
I made sure to get a watermelon. I figure I can make that one tonic drink and stash the last moments of summer at the back of the fridge for the coming winter nights. Not tonight, and not tomorrow - not with the holidays - but soon enough. After I get to pulping the pawpaws.
