Feb. 28th, 2023 07:54 pmI wandered into a used record store this afternoon with no goal or plan, just thinking I'd browse and maybe breeze on out.
"Do you have any Linda Ronstadt?" I asked the man at the front desk. He told me if she was anywhere, she'd be in the R section of rock/pop, and they're not alphabetized or organized, so he couldn't really say. He grabs a stool and I climb up to see what I can find.
The very first item in the R section was The Very Best of Linda Ronstadt.
I grabbed that, a couple more of hers, something by The Flaming Lips and REM, a Rolling Stones live album. As he rang me up, he said that while the store's owners didn't like her, he himself made sure that the store carried her music when it came through.
"She's the queen of LA," I told him, and walked back home through the park in the falling snow.
