Urban umpire.
Jan. 31st, 2022 10:31 pmI nearly slipped on some slick snow today - nearly, because first one heel lost traction and then the other foot lost its grip and I frantically tried to get my bearings and somehow, in the three to five seconds of the slip-slide-shuffle, I got my balance back and stayed upright.
There wasn't any time to think about what I was doing, and I don't know what I did, but I know when I realized I hadn't fallen and was still upright, I was bent at the waist with my arms outstretched.
I felt good in making the call: "Safe!"
There wasn't anyone to hear me, but I felt good making it.
