hannah: (Winter - obsessiveicons)
Friday, I woke up to snowfall: gorgeous flakes coming down slowly. I took a walk through the park rather than try to bike anywhere, stomping through it in what turned out to be the swan song of my current pair of rain boots - it didn't matter quite so much that my toes were cold because when I got back to my apartment, after I knocked the snow off my boots, they were still dry.

It was wonderful seeing the kids sledding down the hills. Big, steep ones, and small, gentle ones alike.

Because it was snowing, and because a couple birds came by, I put some seeds out.

Today, I woke up to pigeons.

They learn fast. And I'm similarly trainable: I shrugged and put some seeds out for them. It's not something I can do that often - for some reason, my neighbors aren't too keen on these birds - which is a shame, because they're more persistent than any alarm clock, and a lot more pleasant.

It's my hope there's more snow in the next couple of months. There was rain today, and it'll be a cold snap later this week, so it's going to be ice. But snow - I didn't take my phone with me going out, because phones can't catch the vividness of the color of bright yellow sunshine behind snow-heavy tree branches, or the clarity of the sky, which is as blue as the sky gets around here. Better to just have walked in it a while.
