Developments.

That's my last timesheet submitted for my job. As soon as it goes through, that's the end of it. There's room in the coming week to prepare for the new one so it starts smoothly, filling out online forms and normalizing my sleep schedule, stuff like that. It'll be mildly disappointing it won't be a weekly pay period, though - twice a month, instead. I'd quite liked it being once a week. It was something I had to do more frequently, but I also got polite email reminders about it and didn't have to navigate through too many pages to get right to where I needed to go.

Not quite in celebration, I went to a bakery and bought a piece of cake today. It was $3.29, and I was delighted to pay for it in exact change. Hand over the money, get the cake, and get out.

In other news, it's probably the combination of the brightly colored yellow-and-blue backpack plus the red-white-blue helmet that has the pigeons recognizing me, because today, a moment after I parked the bike and stood by a low, wide stone wall, they descended. They'd been hanging out on some nearby traffic cables, as they do, and then they all flew down, which had others hanging out on the ground and other nearby places coming on over to see what was going on. The one I've come to recognize did, in fact, fly right onto my hand, as it did the last two days when I offered food out in my palm.

On the solstice, I stayed by the wall and was able to hold my hand out to have four to five pigeons at a time feed right from my hand. Today, out in the air, it was the usual one, and another who was curious but didn't stay long. And then the usual one again, who stuck around for a little bit after I ran out of seeds. Not a lot. But definitely a brief bit of measurable time.
