Noting it down.
Sep. 30th, 2021 10:58 pmFor some reason, there's music coming from outside - quite possibly someone playing a movie very loud in a nearby apartment. It's a perpetual sound of New York City, but depending on the music, and depending on the time of year, it can be a welcome one.
Yesterday was the first day of the week it didn't get into the 70s. Today, as well. Yesterday had the light slanting just so through the leaves overhead, illuminating them from within against the clean blue sky; today there were heirloom apples at the market, the kind that need a bit of chill to get the proper crack and tartness.
It's been days since I've heard any cicadas. I didn't pay much attention as August slipped off, and the start of the month was so focused on its tasks I let the idea of paying attention slip off as well. Maybe last week. Maybe a little before then.
It's still enough for me to stop and look around now, and pay attention to the very end of the summer.
