Instead of going grocery shopping at the farmers market this morning, I spent seven hours helping my brother pack up and clean out an apartment. Most of the heavy work was done, with nearly all the furniture and important personal items already removed, so it was just the little sundries and small items left to pack. But it was a job that needed two people because he was on a time crunch, so that's where the morning went. And a good chunk of the afternoon, to the point where I ate lunch around two. There were boxes, and bags, and waiting for my brother to get the car to load it up and waiting in the car while it was double-parked so my brother could unload boxes and bags to re-load it all over again.

The whole thing was worth it for two good reasons: I got paid by the hour, and I also got a footstool. It's a nice one, solid wood, that would've otherwise been set out on the sidewalk for someone else to take home, but because I was there first, it came home with me.

As mentioned, though, there was a bit of waiting for my brother to get the car.

Which was fine, because I'd brought something to sit on.

Also of note today was waiting in a park and tossing out some birdseed for pigeons to pass the time. This is a tiny slip of the edge of a park right at a street half a block up from a busy intersection, so there were cars waiting for the light to turn, and they could easily see what I was doing.

An old Asian man called out to me from his car window, "You know what to feed them? Seeds? Good job!" And then he drove off, leaving me light on my feet and happy in my heart.
