It took me about an hour to bike ten miles today. Thirty minutes there, thirty minutes back. About an hour, because it took a little longer coming back on account of my having biked down to the Union Square green market and loading up on wine and tomato sauce.

I haven't been since March 14th. I hadn't forgotten how much fun or how joyful a place it is. Even with all the precautions in place - masks, marked areas to wait in line, folding tables as physical barriers between customers and sellers - there was still the same sort of vibe as before the pandemic. People chatting about what to buy and how much of it, asking about given products and items, talking to familiar faces they've gotten to know. It was nice, to have that again.

This was easily the most time I've spent on a bike, and the most miles covered, in a very long time. I hadn't forgotten how much I'd liked it, but I'm realizing how much I've missed it.

The Citibike app is at odds with Google maps regarding how much physical distance I traveled. I'm willing to go with Google on this one, since it seems to have a better grasp of urban geography.
