Back in the saddle.
Mar. 20th, 2020 08:31 pmIn unambiguously cheerful news, a few hours after I noticed a hairline crack in the glass beaker of my adorable little French press, I got a cute single-person Moka pot. Affordable homemade luxury is still mine to have.
Additionally, I skinned my knee today.
I scraped it falling off a bike because I mistakenly thought the seat was at a decent height for me but it was up too high, so I overbalanced and fell over, scraping a little bit of skin off my knee - an abrasion about the size of my thumb. No blood loss, because I had on jeans, just a bit of pain and some ache. But I took it as a good sign. This was my first attempt at using the city's rideshare bikes, and scraping my knee falling off a bike seemed a solid promise of good things to come.
I found another bike right afterwards with a seat I could adjust, got it to a better height, and went for a ride about 20 minutes along the Hudson, with a brief climb upwards that have my legs still whimpering a bit. My quads. My poor, untrained quads. With the gym closed, and warm weather coming, I suspect I'll be getting more of my cardio with the bike - and hopefully get my legs back up to their full strength.
