Bring you back the check.
Oct. 14th, 2018 09:31 pmI just want to say that after several days of minor disappointments, I'm back from a wedding where I both hoisted up and danced with the bride. Nothing's fixed except for I feel a lot better and I'm more ready to take on tomorrow.
There was cake, there were blessings, there were really bad acoustics in the main ballroom so I couldn't easily hear the people sitting next to me because the band was so loud but I had a great time just the same. It was at the Yale Club because the groom - now the husband, I suppose - is an alumnus. My brothers and I got in some nice sneaking around, taking the stairs instead of the elevator so we wouldn't be spotted, heading up to a floor where we weren't supposed to go with excellent views of the surrounding midtown buildings. There was a tiny strip of sky out to New Jersey, which allowed a glimpse of the sunset 22 stories up with early autumn winds eager to let us know what was coming.
I didn't get a lot of dancing in. Just some twirling around with the bride, which was all I wanted, really. There wasn't a lot of conversation, but what I had was mostly entertaining for both parties. The food was nice, the crowd was fun, and I'm still pleased with myself for coming up with "Doctors [Lastname]" - because Mr and Mrs is accurate, but since they've both got their doctorates, it's a rare chance for a collective noun.
