Summary:

There's still a Sunnydale. There's still a Buffy Summers living on Revello Drive. There's still strange people with business of their own coming to town. Except this time around, Spike and Drusilla didn't come for the Hellmouth or the Slayer. They weren’t looking for power or fame or glory, and they weren't staying so they could end the world. This time around, it was just as good a place as any other to stop for a while until they were ready to move on again. They weren't expecting anything more.

This time around, they stayed because they found out it was a place they might have a chance at a future.

And we're live! One chapter a day, six days a week, until it gets to the end.
hannah: (Spike - shadowed-icons)
Because I got all the lilac blossoms I could carry last Saturday at the farmer's market, I made lilac scones tonight. I'll see about making syrup later this week, and begin triangulating how to make a lilac cake next year. If my apartment smells this good on scones, I can only imagine what cake would do.

No, really, it was all the blossoms I could carry - the last of the season's boughs were in buckets of water, dropping their flowers onto the table, and I asked if I could buy the blossoms themselves. In response, the guy went into the truck, pulled out the box used for bough transportation, and let me dump all of its contents into a bag for free. Next time I'm at his booth, I'm definitely buying something.

This isn't just to talk over baked goods and happy market experiences, but also to show off the new icon. I still remember when fifteen icon slots on LJ was a huge deal, and how people would rotate them out, and how much I liked finding fandom icons which had non-fandom applicability to increase their potential usage. Now that I'm here, and Dreamwidth comes with 100 slots, I'm hesitant to fill them all up because I don't want to run out of room or find myself with something I'm not going to use in any but the most rarefied circumstances. As such, there were weeks spent browsing personal journals and communities, combing through comments and people's currently uploaded icons, cursing Photobucket, figuring out what emotions and information couldn't be communicated by what I had in current rotation, narrowing everything I'd saved to a couple dozen possibilities, and then figuring out which of those 100x100 pixel images would best fit that empty space.

I've said before that the unspeakably elegant semiotics of Ferris wheels is so my jam. Icons are, too.

I didn't find out until fairly recently that I already had a couple Buffy fandom icons for years without ever knowing, which seems fitting in ways I'm not quite ready to examine.

And for the evening crowd, in case you missed it, my Buffy fic Set Off Like Geese started going up for your reading pleasure.
