I had nothing better to do today.
Nov. 8th, 2016 07:54 amAccidentally setting the alarm for 5:15 instead of 5:45 like I thought I had turned out a lot better than I thought it would: I had time to brush my teeth before heading off to the polls early enough I could still see the Big Dipper. I got into the building right away. It took about twenty minutes, and by then the line was out the building, around the corner, and all the way down the block.
I'm fairly sure that I could have gone much later in the day - maybe sometime in the mid-afternoon when most of the early rising voters would be at work - and had a similar amount of waiting without having to get up so early. And I'm also completely certain I'm happy I did it first thing in the morning.
It's been a long day already and it's just going to get longer. I plan to spend at least some of it in a movie theater.
