I don't know if it'd actually be the case for it to be better for everyone involved that I not go with my family next week. It might well be. I wouldn't have to worry about the job interview, and everyone else could head off without a fuss. Sure, I'd be unhappy about missing out on the vacation, but wouldn't it be better to see to it that everyone else has an easier time of things?

It's reasonable, it's logical, it follows as a simple solution to the problems facing the current situation. The rest of the family was operating with different information than I was when they made next week's plans, and the opposite is true as well. So why not compromise? Missing Lake Erie would be a blow, since I've wanted to see it for a while, but why be sad about it when it's not like I'd probably have had a chance anyway?

I haven't got much in the way of work or responsibilities right now, and come August I won't even have my part-time job, just the volunteer gig and the job search. I could take the time off. But it wouldn't be easy or possible to coordinate with everyone else's schedules. So why not just stay where I am for the rest of the foreseeable future?
