Settling in.
Jul. 9th, 2012 10:35 pmOne of the things I did last Wednesday out in New Jersey was get a couple more boxes of my stuff from my grandmother's storage unit, including my last box of books and my DVD/CD rack I got when I moved to Pittsburgh. Consequently, a lot of Friday night Saturday morning was devoted to sorting through my books, shuffling them around, reorganizing the shelves around my apartment, rebuilding the media rack and unpacking the DVDs I wanted to keep around, and generally getting my stuff better organized.
I have almost enough space for all of my books. Almost. I like it this way, odd as it is: if I had more than enough, I'd feel permission to get more. If I had much too little, I'd be using most of the floor as an extra bookcase. But having almost enough - where if I had one more shelf somewhere, all of them would have a place to go - reminds me just how many I have, and that if I want to bring in more, I have to be able to justify it given the constraints of the New York City housing market.
I would like another little shelving unit for my various small items and tidbit, and possibly move my catch-all electronics stuff like batteries and the extra cell phone charger out of a single box. This is New York City, after all; I'm sure with some digging I can find actual furniture stores and not have to rely on Target this time around. Fall back on it, maybe. I'll have to see what I can get on my budget.
