Here they come.
Oct. 19th, 2011 11:18 pmTo cheer myself up after a poor afternoon at the internship, I went to Trader Joe's, bought five pounds of tangerines, sixty-four ounces of spiced apple cider, and a quart of ice cream, and carried them for twenty blocks and four flights of stairs. Once I got to my place, I felt a whole lot better.
Nothing went wrong at the internship; it was just a case of miscommunication. I'm the only one of four there one day a week; the other three come in either Tuesday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Thursday. So stuff happens when I'm not there, and I usually roll with it. But today I was supposed to take measurements of various materials, and I couldn't find them, since the workspace had been reorganized sometime between last week and today. It wasn't terrible, just frustrating, since I was pretty sure the materials were all still in the workspace, but without any notes for whether or not anything got taken or how it was moved, it took me a while to finish the measuring. It reminded me of being back in school when I knew I had something to do, but very little idea how to go about it. At least this time there was someone who'd been in on Tuesday who showed me where the salient objects had been stashed.
And in other news, I just finished all the spot-edits and clause untangling for my huge story, and it's now in good enough shape for me to consider posting it. I'm still going to wait, though - I'll take a couple more days to consider how to strengthen the overarching themes in the earlier sections and continue trimming down superflous action sequences. But it'll start going up in a couple of weeks, and I'm really pleased with that.
Also, someone needs to help me finish all these tangerines.
