Mundane humdrum.
Jul. 9th, 2010 08:08 pmI finally got a project at my internship to the point where I can safely hand it off to my boss to give to the next person to come along. It's an encoded archival description, or EAD - a finding aid to let people know what's in a specific collection - and involved more HTML coding than I've ever done. True to what seems to be the form of most programming projects, I got more work done in the evenings from my own computer than at the library with my supervisor around. It's possible I could just take the rest of the semester to finish it up, or that I leave it as-is and move onto something else. I'll talk about it with her on Monday.
I also met with one of the student services people on campus, who didn't give me direct help but was up-front about his capabilities, so we ended up having a nice chat which happened to include some bits of advice on what more to do and who to talk to for my current job search. He complimented me, saying I was easy to talk to, so I'll count it as a net victory.
Also, there was a blood drive on campus today that got a bigger turnout than usual since it was offering free day passes to Kennywood. I would've gone anyway even if they didn't have them; I like to give blood when I can. The last time I went to one, though, I was in and out of there in under forty minutes. This time there was nearly an hour and a half of waiting for the line to move up to process me, check my iron to see if my blood was heavy enough, and finally get me into the chair, and after that it only took three minutes to fill up the bag.
It'd started to rain when I was inside, so by the time I got back to the house I was pretty much soaked. I wouldn't have been so wet if I hadn't gone to the nearby farmers' market, but I did, and came back with a decent haul for just a few bucks, quite a bit of which will be going towards tomorrow's dinner.
