Open the door.
May. 11th, 2010 06:35 pmMy room's main bookcase is now in the garage, and since I've cleaned off both bulletin boards and most of the rest of the room's shelves with all the small objects, I'm starting to accrue a lot of empty space, which has the unfortunate side-effect of reminding me of college dorms.
All the books I set aside for donation are now donated - one of the owners of one of the town's used bookstores, who's also a good friend of the family, came over a little while ago and picked them all up. It was a pretty big spectacle; for a sense of scale, we filled up the trunk and had to use the backseat, too. It's my hope everything will go to a good home. As a side note, all the Calvin and Hobbes books, from the black-and-white collections to the recent book-slash-essay on Sunday strips, has gone down the block to a two-kid household, with a first-grade boy and a kindergarten-age girl, and I honestly can't think of a better home than that.
The kids are also going to take in my gecko early next week. I won't be here to see her go, but in a way that makes it a little better.
