hannah: (Fruit - truntles)

Good problems to have.

It's not exactly a bad thing to realize I don't have a lot of space in my fridge because it's full of sparkling white wine, hard cider, and plums. It's a problem with a fairly simple, straightforward solution. A little time-consuming, yes, but easy to manage.

I suppose I could bake up some of those plums. Or freeze them for the depths of winter, if I wanted, instead of gorging upon the last remains of summertime sunlight. Not that I don't mind a good fruit gorging every now and then, especially on stone fruits. Just, perhaps, I should think to the oncoming wintertime.

In other news, I dropped an old backpack off at the tailor's where it'll be repaired for significantly less than the price of a new one. Something I consistently need to keep in mind for this sort of thing.

Last summer I poached and froze peaches and plums, and it was super great to have them in the middle of winter! Sadly I have now finished them all and yet new fruit is not here yet. I strongly recommend freezing at least a few containers full!

There's nothing better than a fridge full of good food. I spent seven hours yesterday canning and freezing apples that I picked from an orchard a few weeks ago (in the form of slices and sauce). Tiring work, but really, really satisfying.
